Liberty Sock Hop: A Fundraiser for the Liberty High School Band Program

The Silver Tones are excited to return to Liberty High School for another fundraiser swing dance! This dance's theme is Liberty Sock Hop! Put on your best 1950s swag and come dance the night away for a good cause! The dance will include a complimentary dance lesson by swing dance teachers Valerie Pyle and Joe Manning and two hours of live entertainment by the Silver Tones and special Liberty High School guest musicians. Beginner dancers are encouraged to attend, and no partner is needed. There will be plenty of seating for those who just want to listen to the great sounds of the Silver Tones and watch the dancing! This dance will include a silent auction to win great prizes and light refreshments. Proceeds will benefit the Liberty High School band program. Don't miss this memorable evening of dancing, refreshments, and great American big band music, all in support of music in Fauquier County Public Schools! Admission is just $20 in advance (Venmo @LHSBandBoostersVA; include "sock hop" and number/type of tickets) and $25 at the door. Seniors (65+) and students (18 and under) are $15 at the door. All ages are welcome, and this event is open to the public.

Step back in time with the classic music from the 1940s and 1950s on Saturday, June 13, at the Warrenton-Fauquier Airport. Come dress in your best vintage attire and enjoy a performance with the 17-piece Silver Tones Swing Band and their Andrews Sisters vocal trio, the Silver Belles. The Silver Belles will perform Andrews Sisters classics like Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Rum and Coca-Cola, Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree, and more. The band and solo vocalists Gene Bates and Wendy Marie will recreate the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney, and other musical greats, including artists like Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, and Tommy Dorsey. The backdrop for the concert and dance-floor will include the WWII combat aircraft the B-17G Bomber “Sentimental Journey” and the B-25J Bomber “Maid in the Shade” of the Flying Legends of Victory Tour by the Arizona Airbase of the Commemorative Air Force. Refreshments will be available for a donation. ** The dance space for this event is inside the terminal, air-conditioned, and on a smooth concrete floor.
